About the event
One Big Day takes place on Saturday 27 April, 9am-4.30pm at Northgate High School, Dereham, NR19 2EU. The day costs £15 including breakfast and lunch (advanced booking required). For further information and booking please visit: www.dofn.org/one-big-day
Through a programme of keynotes and seminars on thought provoking topics, the conference will encourage delegates to consider ‘Just one thing’ – small and manageable ideas which can help their church start, enhance or grow their mission and ministry with young people and offer fruitful faith links between church, school and households.
Delegates will hear from the Revd David Lloyd, Mission Development Officer for the Diocese of Norwich and Cheryl Govier from the Church of England’s national Growing Faith Foundation. There will also be eight seminar sessions running throughout the day on topics including intergenerational working, creating safe spaces, youth work, chaplaincy in schools, mission planning, church welcome, children’s work and team development.
Delegates will be able peruse the marketplace of stands and find out information about other projects and resources to help inform their ministry and network with others. A range of local and national organisations will be hosting stands including Care for the Family, Open the Book, Youth For Christ, Counties UK, Raise Kids Work, Godly Play. As well as a resource and bookstall provided by Green Pastures, Dereham.
The day will be topped and tailed with time for reflection, prayer, and worship, and delegates will be provided with breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The day is open to those from all church denominations and people are encouraged to come with their leaders and wider team where possible. Jonathan concludes, “we all need a little encouragement sometimes to step out of our comfort zone and move by faith and with hope into something new.
We pray that this day will be a catalyst for the new and that people will come with an openness to what ‘just one thing’ they could do to keep reaching the next generation.”
